Just a quick semi-horror story to share here: a few months ago my entire working folder disappeared from my desktop. Completely, totally, inexplicably never to be found again, even with various file recovery programs and clever searches for truncated names, etc, etc. Luckily, I had backed everything up the previous weekend, but I still lost work from several surprisingly productive days. Now I use 2 flash drives for the day-to-day, and CDs weekly

Two summers ago my laptop was stolen with all of my work on it. Luckily, I keep hard copies of everything, but it was still agonizing to think about having to type everything back in. Now I save to a thumb drive after every writing session (rare as they seem to be these days.)
